Green Bin Sticker Theft

Sadly, but almost too predictably, the first theft of a CCC green waste bin sticker has been reported in the area. Hopefully this was a 'one off' but given the ease with which they can be removed, especially from bins with embossed uneven surfaces on the lids, I fear that it may not be.

Although there is not too much that can be done to prevent removal of stickers by determined thieves there are some precautions that can be taken to limit the risk, namely;

Don't leave bins out over night if at all possible - CCC advise having them out for collection by 07:00 on the day of collection. At other times they should be securely stored away from the street.

Mark the bin, indelibly, with the house number or some other defining mark - to deter theft / removal of the whole bin.

Take a photo of the sticker on the bin and keep a note of the reference numbers from the sticker.

If you have CCTV, keep the bin in shot if it has to be left out for long periods - at least that might provide evidence if the worst does happen.

Many thanks
